Celebrating the life of Mr. Jonathan Bryant Overby
Thank you for signing Mr. Jonathan Bryant Overby's Guestbook
Words have not been invented yet to describe the inner strength that Deputy Overby showed every day that he got up and put on his uniform to help serve and protect the citizens of Harnett County. Though I only knew a little of him, I also knew the strength it took for him to do his job that he did so very well for the years he served with the HCSO. The words of a song say it all about Deputy J. B. Overby..... "He fought the good fight... and left this world way to soon!" He is walking the golden beat in Heaven now, feeling no pain and as he always did whenever I seen him, holding his head high with that warming smile on his face! May god bless not only his loving family but the family he left behind at the Sheriff's Department as well! He will be missed by all!

I knew Jonathan for a few years being that I served with him in the Marine Corps. He was attached to my work group so I spent a lot of off time with him.Jonathan was a special young man. I had a lot of love for him. He even traveled down to my hometown in Florida with me, and my friends took a liking to him as well. He hadn't very outgoing personality that was easy to like. We got along great, and our friendship was a very special dynamic because we can two different worlds and two vastly different cultures. The last time I spoke to Jonathan he told me that he was sick, but he was fighting and doing well. I would like his family to know that he had a great influence on me, and that he was a special young man. Very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 25:8. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.

Debbie and Larry, I wish my condolences to the family of Jonathan. I know it has been a long hard struggle. Jonathan was a very special person. I know he will be missed. I remember fondly when he and two Jasons and Jake worked with me when they were in their teens. I am just so proud of what they all turned out to be. One teacher, two law enforcement officers and one in medicine. I am blessed to have been a part of his life. Gale Barefoot

I knew Jonathan only briefly, as a high school student of mine in 1998, but he is someone that I will always remember fondly. Even after nearly 20 years, I still remember him as one of the brightest, funniest, most loyal young men I've ever known. He made a positive and lasting impression on me and so many others that he came into contact with. My deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.
